John C Rosson Sr's discharge papers

From his pension application 1832:
Q. did you ever receive a discharge from the service and if so what has become of it
A. I received one discharge signed by Colonel Luttrell and another signed by General Butler but before the close of the war my Father's house was plundered by the Tories in which my discharges were since which time I have never seen them and believe they were carried off by the Tories.

Why would his discharge papers have been in VA if he lived and served in NC? I find this strange.

He also states:
The record of my age is in an old Bible now in my possession which was said to have been written by my Father or some person under his direction

I wonder what happened to this bible.
