Genetic project

Post by Greg »

I was lamenting to myself the fact that there wasn't a Rosson genetic project like there is for other families, when I realized I hadn't actually looked. Poking around, I came across this for anyone interested:

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/CumberlandGap-YDNA/

I'm not sure how active this group is.

Found it:

I will say that these things can be useful. My brother submitted DNA for another group and was able to link a dead end with a known immigrant from Scotland. If you believe him, we'll never know through which child of that immigrant we're descended, but it did remove a complete dead end.

the way they have it setup...

is XX Marker -- YY Distance
12 i skip because not worth.... too many matches

25 Marker - Exact Match (2 for me)
25 Marker - Genetic Distance 1 (6 for me)
25 Marker - Genetic Distance 2 (58 for me)

37 Marker - Exact Match (0 for me)
37 Marker - Genetic Distance 1 (2 for me)
37 Marker - Genetic Distance 2 (0 for me)
37 Marker - Genetic Distance 3 (1 for me)
37 Marker - Genetic Distance 4 (0 for me)

67 Marker - Exact Match (0 for me)
67 Marker - Genetic Distance 1 (0 for me)
67 Marker - Genetic Distance 2 (0 for me)
67 Marker - Genetic Distance 3 (0 for me)
67 Marker - Genetic Distance 4 (0 for me)
67 Marker - Genetic Distance 5 (1 for me)
67 Marker - Genetic Distance 6 (0 for me)
67 Marker - Genetic Distance 7 (4 for me)

if you have 67 Match or Distance of 1, i would probably do the 111 test...
The only way to approach the DNA Tests - are from a Long term... dont Expect Results over night

I did my test in 2009, this shows that its not a rush for most researchers... and i did both MtDNA and Y-DNA...
